Our Story

Barefoot Essentials of Ottawa is a West Ottawa based advanced foot care service provider. We are passionate about your feet and strive to provide you the most professional and best service in the industry. We take immense pride in looking after you.

We will come to your long term care facility, retirement home or group facility and even your home to look after your foot care needs.

Our Services

As full service Advanced Diabetic Foot Care Nurses, we look after most of the aspects of your feet. We would like to build an on-going relation with our clients having a regular appointment every 4-6 weeks.

Assessments

Our first step with a client is to perform a full assessment of their feet. Most people have ignored their foot care for a significant amount of time. This assessment can uncover current problems and issues along with detecting potential future ones.

Basic Foot Care

We perform basic foot care on our clients on a regular basis (every 4-6 weeks). This allows us to keep the feet in the best possible condition while also checking for potential issues.

Diabetic Foot Care & Filament Testing

Diabetics generally suffer from poor circulation which results in poor foot health. Proper foot care is an essential part of on-going care for any Diabetic. Filament testing is performed on our Diabetic & Neuropathy clients.

Corns & Calluses

Wear & tear on your feet can causes corns and calluses which we can reduce down. This provides healthier, better looking feet while generally decreasing any pain and discomfort.

Fungal Nails

A significant number of seniors have fungal nails which is a result of fungus of the nail. These nails are usually thicker and discoloured. We reduce down the nail and provide advice on on-going maintenance of this condition.

Ankle Brachial Index (ABI)

When required on some clients, we perform the ABI testing in order to determine what follow-up and referrals to a specialist are required.

Ulcer & Wound Care

Assessment and treatment of basic ulcers and wounds are treated, while more complex ones generally result in a referral to a physician or wound care nurse.

Teaching & Education

We work with you to help you understand your feet and the care that they require. As a foot care nurse, it is my passion to share the most up to date practices. This includes items that you can do yourself or the ones that we will do for you.

Knowledge is Power.

Referrals

When an appointment with a Chiropodist or Podiatrist is required, we will provide you a referral and work with you to get the care you need.
